Barcelona may have a significant transfer opportunity, as AC Milan is reportedly willing to sell Rafael Leao, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Mundo Deportivo).
The Portuguese winger has been highly regarded by Barcelona for some time, and in past transfer windows, he was one of the club’s main targets to strengthen the left wing, an area deemed a priority for improvement.
Previous attempts to sign Leao fell through for various reasons. Barcelona was limited by the 1:1 financial rule, which restricted their spending capacity, while Milan was unwilling to sell their star forward.
The situation has now changed
The situation has now shifted. Reports suggest that Milan are reassessing their squad and are willing to sell some key players, including Leao and left-back Theo Hernandez.
The main reason for this change is their desire to secure the permanent signing of Joao Felix, who is currently on loan from Chelsea. Milan sees him as a crucial part of their future and is looking into options to make his move permanent.
Their preferred strategy is to negotiate a new loan agreement with a mandatory purchase option in 2026, valued at approximately €40 million, along with potential additional bonuses.
Milan want Felix
The club is highly impressed with the Portuguese forward’s performances and his smooth integration into the team. As a result, they are considering selling both Hernandez and Leao to facilitate the deal, although no final decision has been made yet.
Leao’s contract with Milan runs until 2028, but the club is now open to listening to offers if a suitable proposal comes in. While his release clause is set at €175 million, Milan is likely to consider lower offers, particularly from clubs of Barcelona’s caliber.
If a serious bid is made, the situation will be reevaluated, with Milan’s primary focus remaining on securing Félix’s future.
This shift provides Barcelona with a prime opportunity to renew their interest in Leao, provided they can meet Milan’s financial demands.
