The Italian Grand Prix at Monza will remain on the Formula 1 program until at least 2031.

Monza, the oldest circuit on the calendar, has signed a six-year extension to its existing contract.

The move comes after upgrade work was completed at the circuit, the oldest on the calendar, in time for this year’s Italian GP.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1, said: “Monza is at the very heart of Formula 1 history and the atmosphere each year is unique as fans come together in large numbers to cheer on Ferrari and the pilots.

“Recent improvements to the circuit infrastructure and planned investments demonstrate a strong commitment to the long-term future of Formula 1 in Italy.”

F1 had demanded improvements at Monza to raise the facilities to a more modern level. They were financed by the governments of Italy and the Lombardy region.

Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the Automobile Club d’Italia, said: “Monza is the oldest circuit in the world to host a World Championship race, and it is also the oldest event on the Championship calendar. of the World.

“We are all aware that history is no longer enough.

“After the repair of the surface of the track and the underpasses to improve safety on the track and for the supporters, we are now faced with a new challenge in 2025: improving the quality and quantity of the hospitality offer. With this goal in mind, we are already working to stay ahead of the standards required by modern Formula 1.”

Monza first held the Italian Grand Prix in 1922 and has held the race every year since the F1 world championship began in 1950, except in 1980, when the track was closed for renovation.
