Dyche on struggling for goals, ‘difficult journey’ in December and Man Utd

Everton boss Sean Dyche spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match at Manchester United (1:30 p.m. GMT kick-off).

Here are the main points of his press conference:

  • Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti will feature for the under-21 team on Friday as they continue their recovery from injury, while Seamus Coleman is back in training but is unlikely to feature on Sunday.

  • On the team’s recent difficulty scoring goals: “You’re constantly working with them on goal threat and it’s not just about the strikers. A lot has been done on our set pieces and that’s is still completely valid We want to be a threat from those and. [also see] how many different ways we can affect the opposition from open play. We struggled against a compact defense against Brentford – when they went down to 10 men we couldn’t find those key moments. In other games we haven’t completed it. Ultimately, that’s the score you’re looking for to get there. »

  • He added: “We’ve obviously made a massive difference in the defensive stats since the start of the season, and then it’s about finding that balance between defending well as a team and attacking well as a team. The final moment of truth is That’s the hardest part as a manager – you can’t jump in for them.”

  • On facing a United team under their new boss Ruben Amorim: “Everyone talks about a ‘bouncing new manager’ and all the rest, so it’s harder that way of thinking, but they still have good players. A new manager in the Premier League, maybe it will give a different impression I’m sure he’s worked with the players and tried to get his ideas across.

  • As well as United, Everton will face all of the current top four clubs in the Premier League in December. Dyche said: “You have to play them all. The matches have given us this series and it is a difficult series, but everything is difficult in the Premier League. We have already shown that we can take on these teams and that is what we have to do it again.”
