The future of Vitor Roque has been a hot topic in Spain recently, even after the January transfer window.
This is due to interest from Palmeiras, who are eager to sign him before the Brazilian transfer window closes on February 28.
Palmeiras is prepared to offer a substantial amount for Roque. However, the player is still under contract with Real Betis until the end of the season.
As a result, the transfer depends on Real Betis’ approval, as they would need to terminate the loan without seeking compensation.
Still, the possibility of Real Betis letting Roque leave this month seems unlikely, especially following Manuel Pellegrini’s recent comments about the player.
Pellegrini speaks on Roque’s future
Ahead of the upcoming league match against Real Sociedad, Pellegrini stated that Roque is simply another player in the squad whom the team is relying on to finish the season.
As with all the players in the squad, we rotate. Bakambu is playing now, he has played a lot.
“There are better and worse moments in the performances of the players. Without a complete and compact squad, it will be difficult to compete,” he said (h/t Diario SPORT).
“Vitor is one more of the squad, he has not had any setbacks or discomfort. Everyone likes to play in all the games,” the Chilean added.
Pellegrini’s comments appear to indicate that the Real Betis coach intends to keep Roque until the end of the season, even after signing Chuco Hernandez in January.
It’s hard to fault the Chilean coach, as Real Betis are currently competing in the UEFA Conference League, having already defeated Gent 3-0 in the first leg of the knockout playoffs.
Maintaining a full squad, therefore, could be vital for Real Betis as they balance both the Conference League and La Liga this season.
