Barcelona has been focused on ensuring their long-term success by renewing the contracts of important players. Recently, the club has extended the contracts of Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and more recently, Pau Cubarsi.
These renewals were essential, as these players had contracts set to expire in 2026 and needed modifications to their agreements.
Despite the focus on these contract extensions, there are still key players whose futures have not been addressed.
Barcelona has not yet made a decision regarding three players. According to MARCA, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Jules Kounde are among those who have not yet entered contract talks.
All three are vital to the team and have contracts that last until 2027, giving the club plenty of time before they need to revisit their agreements.
Currently, Barcelona has not initiated any discussions with the trio about contract extensions, and neither side feels a sense of urgency to start negotiations.
The lack of progress is not because of any doubt about their importance. All three have been key contributors this season.
Ferran Torres has netted 10 goals and provided 3 assists in 25 appearances, while Kounde has been a mainstay in defense, playing 36 matches, scoring 3 goals, and registering 7 assists.
Raphinha, on the other hand, has played 35 games, directly contributing to 24 goals and 15 assists. Their performances have been valuable under Hansi Flick, but with their contracts lasting until 2027, there’s no immediate need to focus on their futures.
Barcelona is currently focused on other contractual matters and has not made extending these three players a priority. However, when the time is right, the club is likely to initiate talks to secure their long-term involvement in the project.
