Rory McIlroy has been nominated for the PGA Tour Player of the Year award alongside Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele.

The Northern Irishman won the Zurich Classic and Wells Fargo Championship during a strong and consistent year on tour that included seven top 10s and just one missed cut in 19 events.

The 35-year-old won the DP World Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic in January to kick off a year he capped by winning the DP World Championship and claiming first place in the Race to Dubai for the sixth time.

The American Schauffele won the US PGA Championship and the Open, the first two major tournaments of his career.

The 31-year-old hasn’t missed a cut in 22 PGA Tour events and has recorded 15 top-10 finishes.

Scheffler has won seven of the 19 Tour events he has played, including his second major at the Masters in April.

The American, 28, also won gold at the Paris Olympics and won the FedEx Cup.

The player of the year, voted on by fellow PGA Tour members, will receive the Jack Nicklaus Award.

The four nominees for the Arnold Palmer Rookie of the Year Award are Nick Dunlap, Max Greyserman, Jake Knapp and Matthieu Pavon.
